We would like to thank to the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries for hosting the 3rd International Symposium on Catch Identification Technologies (CatchID) in Trondheim on 3 and 4 November 2026, and for including Anchor Lab in the programme.
Anchor Lab’s presentation focussed on the AI execution pipeline within the BlackBox Analyzer. The talk showed how users set it up for their own fishery, and how a reviewer checks the results before they go into catch records.
Over the two days, researchers, authorities and industry shared their latest work on automated catch identification. It was clear that the technology is moving fast.
The next step is putting it to work on real vessels. That depends on incentives that benefit both fishers and authorities, so REM becomes something fishers gain from in their daily work and not only a control tool.
We had many good conversations and came home with new ideas and contacts. Thank you to everyone we spoke with over the two days. We look forward to continuing these conversations, including at the EveryFish mini-exhibition at Norway House in Brussels on 24 November.
